Anyone tried modifying a R1/R2 front splitter for a FB?
I was looking at some old pictures of my R1 that I used to have and I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to modify and fit the R1/R2 air splitter below one of the common FB front air dams such as the Mariah or the Mazdatrix?
The R1 splitter has a seam right down the middle if I remember correctly. If it is too curved, then it could possibly be sawed from the back and bent accordingly (I'm not sure that is clear). This could then be riveted to the air dam.
This would be perfect for running brake ducting.
Here are some pictures of my old stable for visual reference:

I'm sure someone has tried this and it is always better/cheaper to learn from the mistakes of others.

yeah, I know all you noobs and haters are going to trash me on the strut brace design but I dont give a ****. i got it on there...and it is set up to triangulate to the firewall when i get some time to fabricate the cross pieces. there is a piece that goes inside the wiper well behind the wiper rack so it triangulates with 1/4" stee; instead of just firewall thickness (thinness). if you're going to trash it, let's see you do it better. oh, and let's see you do it without going to home depot.
PS it works with a factory air cleaner, too.

made an aluminum plate that i riveted with 1/4" stainless rivets to the original engine under plate. cut 6 or so inches from the center and 3" from each side.

since you asked...
wheels are 17x7 TSW VX-1 from the late 90's. Tried to replicate the wheels from the 1995 Rx-01 show car. Sunk a full sized spare into the spare well. Rear wing is off a 95 Mx-6 with custom center pedestal extension. Other than that, the wing fits perfect--even has the same curve as the rear hatch glass as if it was meant to go on there. Had to do a finger loop on the hatch latch so I could lift the hatch without squishing my fingers between the wing and the glass--there is only about 3/4" clearance.
I appreciate the respect. Been my project since 1991.
