another rearend question

i've been searching all over the forum and am finding everything except what i want to know, so i apologize before hand if this has been covered....

is the open diff w/drums out of an 85 gs big bearing?

can i just convert it to disc and swap out the 3rd member in it, or do i need the actual diff and axle housing off a gsl/ gsl-se?

i know gsl's late 83- up have big bearings, but just wasn't sure if all of them were upgraded

The mounting flanges on the housing ends are different between disc and drum brakes. Good thing Billy's here to support our needs.
