Airdammit?

Grew up building 1st gen VWs. Always had to install an airdam.
Now with my RX, I am unsure. Love the old IMSA front end but, they look great stock...Opinions?
Like, G nose Zs (sounds like a good pizza parlor) but is it too nose heavy?

I had a gslse about a year ago with that same front air dam on it. I hated mine because it scrubbed the ground all the time, our roads suck. I took it off and like the original look of the car better.

i used to be madly in love with those air dams for years and then one day i just stopped. i don't dislike them. if i had one, i'm sure i would use it, but i prefer the natural look.

It IS nose heavy unless you add a rear spoiler to balance it out. Years ago I added a front spoiler and noticed the effect you mention. I added the rear spoiler to balance it out. It has been on the car for so long that it has become part of its personality, so it will forever keep both.

The trouble is now there is just not a good selection of rear spoilers that look good (to me anyway).

The one I like the most is the large imsa, (I think its from mariah), next time I do paint or body work I plan to replace my rear spoiler with the one I found a couple of years ago.

But, if I had a stock Rx-7 (or even a stockish one), I would probably just go without either a front or rear.

Yeah, I was thinking about a rear spoiler! Saw one on an 84 that reminded me of a Porsche whale tail. Must be hard to find as you said...

This one is from Xenon. I'm not sure if they're in production any longer. I really like that it doesn't make the front end look like a brick.

This is actually my favorite air dam, with that being said, I can see where it may be a little nose heavy without side skirts and a spoiler. Personally I do not really like the ones that come back up under the care. I know you had this for sale a while back and I am surprised it did not sale. I would have been interested but shipping across the country would have made it cost prohibitive for what I would spend on one.

Soooo, if you plan on doing any high speed driving (over 100mph) you need some form of a
spoiler. Otherwise you will feel the car lift and float at speed. Its not bad but its enough that
you really start to wonder how much faster you can go. That said, I don't have one on my car.

As I remember the last DGRR someone cruised away from us at well over that
speed on the ride back from the dragon. Not naming names, but you know who you are.
I have a witness and she never forgets anything (unfortunately).
