Aip pump
Aip pump
I was wondering how much work it would be to remove the air pump on my 85 se. I don't think I have the skills to do it myself so could I bring it down to my mechanic and have him do it? How much would you think that would cost?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I have to ask, why remove it?
Removing it is very simple. Anyone that can turn a wrench can do it in about 5 minutes. The issue is all the other changes that would need to be made. You would need to add a double pulley for the alternator to compensate for water pump belt tension. Removing the air pump will also make the catalytic convertor to burn itself out or glow red. It's best to go with a header at this point. And also the 5th and 6th ports would need to be plumbed to work correctly because of the header.
My suggestion, don't remove it on a stock equipped motor.
