81 12a GSL keeps blowing the leading ignitor
Hey all, new to the forum here.
I picked up an 81 GSL 2 months ago in hopes of getting it on the road. The car had been sitting for 10 years so I'm in the process of replacing just about everything.
I had just got the carb rebuilt as it was completely gummed up and was replacing just about everything fuel related as it was flooding -- not wanting to drive more than 50 feet. I parked it a few nights ago, came out the next day and it sounded as if it was running on one rotor. Checked spark and sure enough my leading ignitor was dead. I ordered 2 new ignitors and replaced them both. Checked spark and both were working. Went to go start it and it ran super boggy, giving it throttle would bog it even more, eventually dying after 10 seconds or so. Checked for spark again and sure enough my brand new ignitor was dead.
My wiring appears to be fine (engine bay was oil sprayed so there aren't any brittle wires) and my trailing ignition works fine. Kind of at a loss as to what it could be, almost looking like I'm going to have to pull the harness back as far as I can and look for a shorted wire, although I don't see how it could be shorted now as I haven't disturbed the wiring at all. I've had it running now for a month or so and this just came out of the blue.
Any insight is appreciated. I couldn't find any threads similar to the issue I'm having so I thought I'd post. Thanks for reading.

You also might try this method of testing those bad igniters. Even if they are bad, don't throw them away. Someone can use them.
