The #7 Daytona winning Rx7

Great story from 2008 Nostalgic Japanese Car magazine, required reading for all Mazda owners including those irritating Mazdaspeed3 owners. Ya can't talk the talk if you can't walk the walk.

Interesting side note. Whenever you post up content on dropbox my Chrome browser refuses to
let me go there because the security certificate is malformed. This is a good thing, it keeps me
out of otherwise bad websites. Sometimes though it keeps me out of legit ones as well like this.

interesting article. several small errors, typical of a magazine, unfortunately.

the car in the pics, #7 was the practice car (or demo or something) its vin SA22C-000007, so it went to daytona, did a few laps and came home.

the stripe design is a Mazda design, there is a picture of a competition car in the Road and track road test.

the engine was rated @265hp, its in the manual, and the apex seals are Mazda, not RB.

all little stuff, but it adds up

Yep, demo car for the aero kit, or prototype. All period photos of the Daytona RX-7s are left hand drive.

Speedhunters got up close with it a while ago, misidentifying it as well.

One of the most beautiful rotaries ever! I could fantasize about it being in my garage.

The air intake is really making me think now...it's safe to assume Mazda did that themselves. I wish they would have been able to do something similar to that on the production line. Getting cold air through to the intake would be a big benefit I think to the 12a. I know it would suck working with that intake and having to take it off all the time, but the performance gain might be worth it.

Yeah, that's one beautiful example of an SA for sure. I can't stop looking at it.
