I found this via Jalopnik's Nice Price vs. Crack Price:

i'd like to have that car. its full of nostalgic parts and in its day was king of the road! price is a little steep but with a new 13B under the hood, new paint and some reupholstered Recaro's this baby will be one mean machine!

Not bad if the buyer had the time & money to get it right. I agree a nice new 13b would definitely be a great addition.

Owner doesn't even know how to read the damn odometer right... it's "showing" 8786.0, not 87860... and judging from the interior condition, that chassis has far more than 8k miles on it.

Second or third trip around 100k, is my guess.

$2000? More like $200 in that condition, IMO.

Poor girl's a victim of serial abuse. FB front on an SA chassis... feh!

I think you have to convert to the FB front on an SA if you get the Mode 1 kit from Mariah, at least I believe. But I also agree with you that this car should have been kept stock and original, as it is one of the first RX7's.

I've seen that add before. I need to go and look at the car one of these days.

According to the Mariah website you do have to change the front end as to have the front signals on all their kits.
