I saw the Mazda Prototype racer compete this past Sunday in the IMSA race series just outside of Toronto at the legendary Mosport race track. It was wearing the historic Renown livery of the 1991 Le Mans winning 787B and led the race for the first half until retiring from suspension failure. I can't be certain but it looks like maybe the Stig was driving, I can just make out his white helmet with blue visor.

Unfortunately no rotary. Just a 2L direct injection turbo with 13.5:1 compression. And nearly 600 bhp.

I think they should offer a rotary engine option for the MX5. Very little development costs to Mazda but likely emissions compliance is a problem.

They dropped the SkyActiv branding this year when they switched back to a petrol engine.
