2 Quick questions from a first time 7 owner!
ok, so i've only had my 7 now for about 2 weeks.
I've been doing some reading, that if you "lug" your car around, and never get on it, things can go south, supposedly. I don't really live that close to an interstate (the joys of being in the country) or anywhere where i can really "open" it up, i mainly only drive around 55 on the main roads. My car (85 GS, auto 4 speed) "well, 3 speed until you push the OD button, then it becomes 4"
I notice that when i drive, and the car kicks into OD, it normally keeps the RPM's at or under 2. SO, to compensate for not being able to run it hard, would it hurt anything to just leave the OD off, and just restrict it to 3rd gear being the highest? Cause the fastest i'll be going is around 55, and it won't be able to go into OD, so that should raise the RPM's up at least a little bit, better than just "lugging" around at 2 all the time.
Question 2
I'm paranoid now after reading about the oil metering pump lubricating the seals. As far as i know, the one on it is stock, so just how reliable are they? is there any signs or anything that i can watch out for to know when one is going bad? will the oil pressure gauge have any thing to do with it?
I've read about putting on a "reservoir" and just using 2 cycle oil, but i'm not very technical about vehicles.
Thanks for any input on helping this "newb" out!

question 1; its good for any car to step on the gas once and a while, the extra heat will burn off any big carbon deposits. the later engines have variable intake stuff too, and its good for these to be operated, because they do carbon up.
plus its fun!
question 2. a bad metering pump will give a symptom, but its a scratchy noise (apex seals running with no lube), so unless you've heard it before, you're not likely to know what it is.
the good news is that the pump is really easy to check, there is a page in the FSM Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals that describes how.
OR you can dump some 2 cycle oil in the gas (no more than 1oz per gallon), and if the engine gets quieter there was something wrong
