1st Post!!
Greetings,
I was the proud owner of a brand new 1983 RX7 GS when they came out. I am not sure how or why I started looking in to perhaps owning another one but I find myself here. I have been lurking for a week or so reading about all the fine first gens you guys have and how you have brought them back to life or are keeping these little buggies in fine running order. Dollar for dollar, pound for pound that little red car was the best vehicle I have ever owned.
I think I am about to get bitten by the bug....checking ebay, local classifieds, etc. My "wish" list would be something along the lines of an '83, '84 or '85 GSL. I always kicked myself for not stepping up!!
Those of you that have a first gen that have bought it to resurrect it, what would you tell someone like me to look for? What were the pros and cons, what did you learn, what would you never do again? Stuff like that. My initial thoughts are to try to pick one up that needs very little, if any, body work. A reasonably good interior and an engine that runs. I don't mind tinkering, cleaning, etc. I am fully prepared to put a few bucks in to it. It would be a project car for weekend drives not a daily commuter.
I look forward to hearing the stories!!! Anyone out there from the Houston area?
Rich

Welcome to the club rfalcone! There are new listings of 83-85 models coming up consistently. Keep scanning, no doubt you will find what you are looking for.
I'm an original owner of an 80 LS, but bought a couple more SA's. Love 'em all.
Hope to hear about your purchase. Share pics when you can.
