MN 1984 GSL paint advice needed!

Hi all! I've recently joined the rotary club a few weeks back and I could really use some advice! I own a 1984 FB that has off colored front left side and I'm soon going to re paint it. The problem is that I really don't know what color would look great with the car having a brown interior. I'm looking for some advice regarding this, any help would be awesome! Thanks!

Btw the radio has since been fixed, but sadly the cup is still missing.

There is a guy on here that makes the replacement door handle cups.

Keep in mind that a change of color will cost you more (if someone else does it) or require a lot more time on your part (if you do it yourself). You will need to repaint the engine bay, door and hatch jams, and misc. other places. Having said that, I think the best colors for a brown interior are brown, White or beige (tan).

And there lies the problem, I'm not a real big fan of the beige or tan paint jobs, I really enjoy the red on most of the fbs but that will never go with the brown interior.

Black?

Or, it's more work but you can change the interior color to go with the red.

with brown interior the factory exterior colors were;

white, tan, the medium brown, the dark brown the car is; which looks great btw. i have seen tender blue/brown, which is a bit odd, and i think both reds, there was a maroon metallic, and the RH red.

Not the biggest fan of the brown myself, but after some thought I'm leaning towards a nice maroon red color because I already was a fan of red on the FBs.

I dunno much about FB interior brown shades, but the SA interior brown works good with blue exterior. That's where I'm headed.

Yeah I'm leaning towards a color like this right here.

Paint it the original color. In the end you will be most happy.

That's a nice one, low mileage and looks like it's in great shape, congrats!

I'm with J9, Red95 and Cameron, the best option is the original color because it will be easier and less expensive and it will look fantastic with new paint, without all that evidence of a spray over. I had a brown 85 GSL recently repainted to the original metallic brown color, one of the prettiest FBs I've owned:

But if you really want to get away from the brown exterior, I'd suggest that maroon color you mentioned, I have a friend with a brown on brown that was repainted to the 1st gen maroon color that was specific to the 85 GSLSEs and it looks pretty good:

I like the dark brown, but understand your dilemma. Mine is old man tan! A color change is fun but must be done correctly. IE big $ I think the brown intetior is good looking, and can be done with other colors.

I can't believe Georgia let you have a personalized plate saying "The Turd". They would never let you choose that here in California. To PC LOL

Nice looking car, I remember this one being on Craigslist. I'd go with a maroon like the flared SA with the big whale tale if you don't want to change interior colors. The S3 best interior color is gray in my opinion (we only had brown, red and gray in 84-85).

Good luck with the car! If you need help let me know, I'm local and do work on some people's cars if they need help

Same here in Ohio. When I told the lady at the DMV I wanted Spooln2 she gave me a dirty look and said, What does that mean, I don't think that name is appropriate.

Had to use the force explaining what it meant. She folded like a brain dead stormtrooper

The Turd would never fly here. lol
