1981 front bumper

i've started to give my 81 rx7 the TLC it needs, i've removed the front bumper as i'm powder coating the metal frame work inside. when i took it off i noticed it looked like there was a stiffening brace along the bottom center section of the bumper. same material as the bumper frame work and all screwed in place with shims along the bottom set of screws.... I haven't taken it off yet but i'm sure it's a couple pounds of dead weight....so what i'm wondering is if i remove this stiffening peice is that going to create any issues other then prob make the front bumper a hair weaker?

as you can see there's a bracket or another peice of metal inside the frame work....just thinking if it's not needed, remove it lol

i realize it doesn't weigh alot..i've actually got it taken apart to be blasted before i powder coat the bumper. i don't have a scale to know excatly what it weights but i'm thinking if it's not something that's needed, it's gone and help out with all the other plans for making the car lighter. even if it's a pound or two at a time lol
