12a's DO Grow on Trees!
Was planning on going and scrapping my old parts car to make way for my TII for my turbo swap. Only way I could get the engine out was to pull it on an old oak branch.
Pictures say it all.

As for pulling engines in parking lots... Ever heard of a "shade tree mechanic"? My buddies' grand dad was a true to life shade tree mechanic in the 40/50's. Every weekend when he was going to college he would drive home with another students car/truck and pull under a big oak tree. Friday night he'd pull the engine out with a chain fall from the oak tree. Saturday morning he'd rebuild the engine. Saturday night he'd put the sucker back in; just in time (what he says) to cruise to the beach. lol

Yes, many layers of clothing and boots are a must. Sucks the life out of you though.
Well when you're making room for a complete GSL parts car and possibly a complete, running, 87 TII for a swap - you do what you have to
My father and I tried with a 4x4 but I hadn't taken off anything and that thing was just a little bit too heavy for us both. If I had stripped this stuff we could have gotten it out but it was just too much. Even raising it out with the come along was a bit much at first.

Yeah, you get used to it I guess. Been here all my life and its just accepted that 6 months a year you're stuck indoors and there's snow and wind outside. My crazy family just deals with and works outside anyways - despite frostbite, colds, falling, etc. - because we all have hobbies.
I'm planning on moving to FL in about a year for school though - so I can't complain

Well, I'd like a bachelor's from UFL in mechanical engineering with a minor in business management then UCBerkeley for grad school to get at least a masters in mechanical engineering. Would love to work in Cali for an auto, turbo, or government company as I have wanted to since I was 12.
j9 - I am going to melt! I'm actually going to try and fix my A/C in the car this spring so its ready for the heat. Part of the reason I plan to move in December this year is to grow somewhat accustomed to the difference in temperature and humidity there.

if you're going to the main UF campus, then you'll be roughly an hour from me. it gets plenty cold in central Florida - obviously, nothing like Minnesota, but cold enough for you to see that there is something else besides heat and humidity.
nice job with the tree. as much as i enjoy the convenience of my tools and such now, i do miss the days when i was back home in New York and my brother and i would take out engines by hand on the street. it didn't matter what season. snow and freezing rain were not deterrents. it's like you said, you do what you have to do.
