(DRIVETRAIN) Small axles Vs. large axles

Hey guys, I have a newbie question. I heard that there are "big axle" and "small axle" first gens. Which model had which (GSL/GSL-SE)? Is the difference only in axle diameter or is there a difference in the spline diameter also?

Thanks in advance.

1970-1983, Small Bearing, Small Spline. Rx2, Rx3 had LH and RH axles that were different lengths. SA cars were same length both sides. All were 4x110mm bolt pattern.

1984-1985 12A, Big Bearing, Big Spline. 4x110MM bolt pattern

1984-1985 13B (GSL-SE), Big Bearing, Big Spline. 4x4.5 bolt pattern. Longer than 12A axles from the bearing to the wheel mounting surface.

1981-1985 Housings are all the same lenght from flange to flange.

So the splines are all the same for non turbo cars in '84 and '85? Is there any difference in the splines between the GSL and GSL-SE?

Thanks.

Turbo? Splines are the same for 84-85, SE or not.

Difference? Depends on the year break down listed above.
