(DRIVETRAIN) Small axles Vs. large axles
Hey guys, I have a newbie question. I heard that there are "big axle" and "small axle" first gens. Which model had which (GSL/GSL-SE)? Is the difference only in axle diameter or is there a difference in the spline diameter also?
Thanks in advance. |
1970-1983, Small Bearing, Small Spline. Rx2, Rx3 had LH and RH axles that were different lengths. SA cars were same length both sides. All were 4x110mm bolt pattern.
1984-1985 12A, Big Bearing, Big Spline. 4x110MM bolt pattern 1984-1985 13B (GSL-SE), Big Bearing, Big Spline. 4x4.5 bolt pattern. Longer than 12A axles from the bearing to the wheel mounting surface. 1981-1985 Housings are all the same lenght from flange to flange. -billy |
So the splines are all the same for non turbo cars in '84 and '85? Is there any difference in the splines between the GSL and GSL-SE?
Thanks. |
