Glad you're curtailing the work a bit, these days. It's been a while.
On the Beer Fest ...
Nice to see the ole Gulf Coast, NOLA and college attitude are still alive!
Also, go RSVP on the MeetUp site so we can count you in.
Later,
John

Mtg Update for 8/3/13 - San Diego RX Club
We have our monthly meeting this Saturday, August 3rd. See the link below for details.
http://www.meetup.com/SD-RX7-Club/
There is a big event going on near our usual spot, "Hot Rods for Heroes," so we may have to meet-up slightly north of this location. That would be in the "old' location near Slaters 50/50 and ACE Hardware, but within a couple hundred yards.
Drop me a note or PM if you have questions or need my phone number.
Later,
John
ps,
We have the Coronado Speed Festival coming up in September, so watch for the annountement. Would like to get a lot more than the San Diego peeps.

Miss having you guys come to the meets, as well. I know you are not in Japan, proper, but hope you're finding some rotorheads over there. How are you liking your tour on Okinawa? Got much longer?
In November '96 I spent over a week there. Stayed at the Kuwae Lodge on Camp Lester. Had four of us on the trip and we were there to interview some medical personnel at the naval hospital, III MEF, and a number of other places that I cannot remember. This was for a medical project that I was assigned to at work.
Had the opportunity to even take in a couple of tours amongst our interview sessions. Met some really great people. Don't remember his name, but the greatest guy was one of the corpsmen for III MEF. Had a wife and two kids. I believe he was on his third tour he licked it so much. He said there were sort of two kinds of people there: those that jumped from base to base and hated it and those that went of base and participated as much as possible in outside activities. This corpsman's family paired with a Japanese / Okinawan family and their kids spent one weekend a month at each other family's home. Great way to do it.
Anyway ... I had a great time such that I stayed a few extra days to enjoy the island. Seems that some of the beaches on Okinawa are viewed in the same way as main-landers in the USA view Hawaii. Some beautiful white sand beaches.
Very interesting having to drive on the LEFT side of the road, too, and sit on the RIGHT side of the car. Had a co-pilot that kept us out of trouble a few times! Over there one looks RIGHT before crossing the street, as you well know.
Also very interesting out and about in that, at that time, very few, if anything, was in English once you left base. A bit tough getting around at times and trying to figure out menus.
Stay safe over there; keep out of "trouble;" and have a great time!
Look us up if you get back in town.

Hey! I love it here in Okinawa. I'm getting ready to come back to America in the next month or two. I can't wait. I'm selling my R32 GT-R pretty soon and my other car as well. I'm going to be relocating back to Fort Worth, TX.
There are a lot of people that stay on base and complain. I had the opportunity to enjoy the island.
Driving here at first was a nightmare, these drivers here are crazy. They will cut you off, pull out of side street without even looking, stop in the middle of the road and many other dangerous habits. I can't wait to come back to normal driving.
I should be separating from Camp Pendleton, CA when I get back. I will try to look you guys up when I do get there.

a.) pretty sure the engine is toast on the FD
b.) going to a zappa show in L.A. that night.
so...the car will definitely be ready for the january...barring any setbacks with the rebuild and i can FINALLY enjoy the new single turbo setup - damn rotaries. of course it was the oil control rings, NOT the apex seals...typical.
