I've been apart of the RX-7 community for awhile i've owned a 93 VR and 93 MB on the VR I had a TD-06-25g setup (old school greddy kit) I got full boost at 3400rpm's and with the MB i had a GT35r single turbo setup to be honest i preferred the greddy set up. I've been on hiatus for awhile what's the new sort of standard for responsive single turbo setups? I know it used to be the GT35r's and the precision 6265 turbo's has this changed?
Really depends on what your idea of responsiveness is and what kind of top end you are willing to sacrifice for that quick spool. 35R's are still pretty popular but many guys prefer turbos like the td61 or gt3574 which replaces the standard 35r's turbine wheel with a larger one more suited for rotary exhaust flow.
TD61 is by far the best street driven turbo system I've ever built or worked on in the past 10 years. I've seen 24psi on one car by 3400rpms, and it made 440 ft lbs or torque with a huge powerband. Keep in mind the turbo system is only one piece of the puzzel. If you use any single turbo on a mediocre engine, tune or overall setup its not going to be a good experience.
I have yet to do one in house( sent several out) but our tdx61( Garrett gtx35r mated to a ptrim) should be even better.

The term full boost at X rpms is misleading.
For some it may be 10 psi, for others it may be 20 psi.
Thus there is no definite comparison standard.
We ALL would have to test to the same final boost level, use the same gear, and start at the same rpm and test at the same outside air temp.
And the same porting.
As you go to higher and higher boost levels, you value will go higher and higher.

hard to tell what’s going on here due to the lack of clarity. Seems to be some substantial differences in area under the curve for lower vs higher rpm in the runs to the left, but then a single run at much higher rpm way out to the right. Or maybe that’s speed in a higher gear?
nice looking setup under the hood, just cut that out for focus & brevity, also trimmed your pic down for same.
