S5 turbo oil pressure

hey guys, I have an S5 turbo going on a 12a blowthrough project. I've been thinking about oil feed lines and was wondering if i need an oil restrictor before the turbo or if it is internally restricted. My 12a has about 85psi of oil pressure. Thank you.

yep, you can use whatever lines you want with no restrictor since it is indeed internally restricted.
If you are burning oil out the stock turbo with high oil pressure, the turbo just needs to be rebuilt.

if the turbo is umodified that is. Bryan at BNR has a tendency to remove the restrictors and not put them back in, for what reason i am not sure..

this is a stock S5 turbo i dont have the oil feed/return lines so I ahve to make them. Im opting not to use the water cooling portion of it as I have a turbo timer. where is the restrictor actually at in the turbo?

inside the cold side of the CHRA cartridge.

don't eliminate the coolant or the turbo will be short lived, it is designed to use the cooling passages or the oil will coke more easily and iron warp as the passages are thinner than a simple oil cooled turbo.

I don't understand why people are so lazy when it comes to that. Especially when they already making custom oil lines anyway.

Really?! Does he forget or what? Who has this happened to?

The reason I ask, is because the noise coming from my engine may not be a loose exhaust sleeve... It may be my BNR stage 4.

Trust me, it's not because I was being lazy. I'll use the water cooling.

every turbo i have gotten from Bryan has had the restrictor removed. technically the exhaust wheel carbon seal is the weak point and the stock restrictor doesn't affect it anyways as it only meters oil into the cold side of the turbo. perhaps his thinking is that metering the line to the whole turbo is better and i agree, as modified rotaries can easily create alot of backpressure in the crankcase and excessive oil pressure to the turbo.
