Just bought back my first car 86 GXL . but has had a hard trip with its old owner an im thinking by the sounds an w.e the driveshaft needs to be replaced ...... but also even though the car is completely gutted my sunroof is leaking bad an wondering if anyone knows were to get a replacement seal at . an is there any cheap upgrades to add to the motor for quick hp gain thanks

good luck on the u joints, they are a swedged unit, going through this nite mare right now. will post when I find the correct replacements

ive got an 87 5 speed na coupe im parting,i know it has a good driveshaft,let me know,as for sunroof seal i havent checked but maybe mazdatrix or rotary beat,one of the aftermarket companies may make them now

Grab the driveshaft and try to wiggle or move it. If it's has any play then you'll need a replacement. Why replace what isn't broke. ;P

You can get replacement U-Joints from Rockford Driveline if you want to do it yourself. There is a writeup somewhere here that shows what to do with pics.

As for the sunroof seal: Mazdatrix and Malloy Mazda pop up first for me. I'd see if anyone is parting out a car first, that particular seal is somewhat pricey new.

i would just bite the bullet and get a new sunroof seal cause ive never seen used one in good enough cond. plus at least you know it will seal good and not ruin your interior,im guessing price is around $150

Well i got the driveshaft out an not only were the u joints DESTROYED but a few spots of metal missin on it an the weight inside had come completely loose so got a nice brand new one 218$ cheapest i could find oem for an the alum. isnt but around 2.5 lbs lighter for close to double the price an i dont plan on makeing 500 hp anytime soon. but thanks for all the input an im goin to cheack those sites for the sunroof seal thx again

wowww 150 thats crazy ...... and well i have NO interior to ruin but i am planning on puttin new seats in an just in general would like to hop in my car an not have to worry about puddles, also would like to put a system in it aswell

well i got my new driveshaft put in today so that problems solved no more clank pow boom when im shifting lol but i do still need a few things like seats so an a few other odds an ends so what all do you have left and where are you located
