What are Wastegate and Pre-control pills? (I searched)

I can find all kinds of reference to them, but no real description of what they are. I gather they are part of the turbo control system, but other than that, I'm lost.

They are small metal ***** or "pills" that have very small holes in them. They are fitted inside the vacuum lines that lead to the wastegate and precontrol actuators. There job is to limit the amount of air that flows to those devices. Here's a pic of the lines they are in:



As you open the intake and exhaust you are flowing more air and will need to replace these pills in order to properly control boost. Some people use jets from Holley Carbs as replacements and others just replace the pills with adjustable needle valves (referred to as the Home Depot Manual Boost Controller).

Oh, ok..Thanks! I was going crazy trying to determine what they were exactly from reading all the posts about them.

Is it me or does this just seem like a total caveman solution? Ball bearings with holes in them? Maybe simpler is better *shrug*

OK well which line is which and the bigger the pill hole the more or less boost?

They are not ***** they are more like tubes ,or carb jets,the bigger the hole the lower the boost ,the smaller hole pill is in the longer line
