What should I get welded for $500

Im doing some graphic work for a client who just happens to be an excellent welder. Given the economic times especially here in MI, he wants to barter and Im willing to do it.

My question is what exactly should I get done? I have a 10AE and its currently a weekend driver.

Some of his work

what do you guys think?

V-mount, you wont regret it.

Unless you get into an accident, and a roll cage would have saved you from being a paraplegic ...then you can regret it

Strut bars are about 25 minutes worth of welding time (including clean up ;-) ), unless you are talking a four point strut bar that has two additional attachment points on the firewall?

Otherwise, you are pretty much at an in between point. You are closer to a roll cage than a strut bar.

it depends what other fabrication capabilites he has. Does he have a tubing bender? Mandrel Bender? Does he have a brake?

Fabrication is typically $50-70/hr depending on what he is doing and the size of his shop.

A set of strut bars isnt a bad idea, but if hes does have the equipment, a roll bar would be a good one as well.

the guy may not do exhaust, not all welders will get involved in that.

And no welder around here would charge $500 for a cage, they would laugh at you for that price.

Check out TT's strut bar, that took alot longer then 25 minutes to fabricate https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ighlight=strut

dudes will not touch a SS manifold for under $1200 around here

something good and custom.. intercooler setup sounds nice, always requires custom piping.

would be stupid to have him make some strut bars that you can easily buy for a hundred lol.

A local guy here will do a cage for $500, besides alot of companies sell 4 points for around $500 (AutoPower). Rob sounds like the guys in you area are high priced. I would laugh back & take my buisness else where.

you could get some trick suspension pieces made up

just to get an idea.. They can be made, metal yards usually have the rods and joints with the weld on sleeve or whatevers.

or like some under car chassis braces
