Unhappy 1986 Mazda RX7 Power Loss?

Hello, I have a 1986 Mazda RX7, it is a very nice looking car but the acceleration is horrible. It has power loss through all RPM's. Im not firmiliar with Rotory engines, what would cause that to happen? The last owner said the exhaust got very hot and he kept on driving, he said he fixed it and now at 90,000 miles it feels very tired.

Start with a full tuneup. This means plugs, wires, all fluids, filters, TPS adjustment, sensor check and all of the stuff listed in the service manual under 60K tuneup.

Are there any other problems or symptoms you are observing?

hot exhaust could mean a problem with the cat. my loss of power was related to the cat being plugged up.
