my 87 TII

i bought it for $2400 with 120K miles on it and has a over boost issue from the PO freeing up the exhaust with some 3inch piping with stock down pipe and stock mufflers. but no cats.

its boosts a constant 7lbs and hits boost cut so i bought a HKS FCD not installed yet though cause i want to put in a walbro 255 first to be safe. i taken my exhaust manifold off and got rid of that stupid s4 flapper door inside there too cause it never was hooked up. from a dead stop it boost's around 3,4 grand and pulls hard untill it hits fuel cut.lol thats not good i know

i hope these pics show up .

You really need to install a cat to keep the boost in check, or post the waste gate

Running a straight pipe does crazy things to your boost with the stock fuel system, awesome car though! Very clean

The reason why ^^, because there is less back pressure downstream from the turbo, this allows the turbo to spool up faster, then when the wastegate opens up to keep the boost level down, there is more flow then the wastegate can handle, thus the increase in boost.

You can install restriction plates in one of the flanges on the exhaust also to increase back pressure
