tranny swap in an fc is easy. buy the car, piece together the parts locally which could be done for $200 and bam spend a weekend or a day if you're committed and swap everything over. It's all bolt on, search for a tranny swap write up I know they're on here.

Then read this:https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/complete-automatic-manual-conversion-write-up-201102/

The swap can be done in a couple of days if you have all the part's laying around. You are going to have to custom make a couple of tranny mount's soo you will need a welder! Everything else is pretty much bolt on and straight forward. When i did mine it took me 2 day's to get it all together.

One more thing you will need the speedo gear from your auto tranny to be put into your 5-sp tranny so your speedometer will read correctly.

Good luck.

On the S5's according the the relationship chart in the FSM the inhibitor switch and the EC-AT unit are used in the ECU deciding to open the 6 ports or not. Just simply unplugging the EC-AT unit prevent this condition?

ok my main things are when removing the top bolt on the tranni bellhousing jack up the back of the tranii its much easyer. Also GET A TRANSMISSION JACK!!!!!!!!!. if you know where a car is that you can get the pedals from your good just buy a new clutch master, lines, and slave its the easyest way you'll replace them eventually anyways. oh and dont forget to unbolt you torque converter. oh and spike my 5th+6th ports till work the ATtoMT conversion didn;t bother them.

Word of warning

Keep in mind, for some one relatively mechanically inclined with access to apropriate tools this swap is EZ. With poor tools and conditions it is a pain in the *** but still pretty simple. There are enough FC's peppering salvage yards to make all the peices an easy ******, but I do have one warning. Certain VIN S5 autotragics have a different shell. That is to say the physical location of the mount is different. If this car is an S5 ensure it uses the "classic" mount points and not the crappy auto one. Or be advised you may have to have the ability to Fab up a trans mount.
