Opinions on Atlanta RX7???

Anybody been to this place before, or heard anything about them? They say that they specialize in NA 1st and 2nd gens, but i was wondering if they could help out my '88 TII....so, know anything?

Are they still in business? or am I getting them confused with another that has closed? Called the number on the website?

I'm not sure about the number on the website, but Sam's moved near Braselton, closed the shop on Buford Hwy, and unfortunately left the website running. He's retired now, but he's still covered up with dozens of cars'-worth of parts. My phone took a swim, but someone else here might have a good number for him. Otherwise you can drive up to see him on a weekend.

That's what I was thinking, glad to know I did remember it wrong, even if I wasn't too sure

He fucked up my 5-speed conversion, left all sorts of stuff loose, ghetto rigged the trans mount, no clutch switch at all, left the freakin brake light switch off, etc... but this was when he was on Buford hwy and the previous owner of my car had all this work done, oh, and the transmission never shifted properly. the synchros were almost done for when he installed it

My suggestion - MAZCARE - Marietta (expensive) but IMO worth it. I had them install Racing beat sways/springs and 5way Tokico's as well as a rear toe eliminator set on my low mileage (now driven hard) 89 GTU. I trust them enough to push the old girl at Road Atlanta> 34,500 miles and she is driven like a hot blonde!! Sorry I digress.

Yeah, I saw them also. Didn't know if they worked on rotarys. I sent them an email, I haven't heard back. Thanks for all the feedback.

Sam is an excellent 1st and 2nd gen mechanic. He diesn't work on FD's much though. When it comes to the old N/A motors though, he knows more on how they actually work than anyone else that I have found. If you need his number, PM me.

If you have an FD, MazCare does excellent work IMO. Charlie is a really nice guy, and is very professional. They can troubleshoot anything on the FD, and I highly recommend them.

What about a FC at Mazcare? '88 TII Turbo. I mean, they seem to be the closest rotary...people...around! I'm down in Central GA. Does anybody know if Mazcare is good mechanically with fixing this TII?

Another loyal MAZCARE customer here. Charlie's basically done most of the engine replacements for mine (including installing the rebuild from Atkins)... Tubes, oil lines... etc.

It is expensive, approx $80/hour (and looking back, I bought the wrong used car), but he does quality work; doesn't do repairs that he notices without asking for your consent and throws in freebies every now and then

And do you guys near the Marietta/Buford Hwy area (or anywhere within the 285 loop) get together much? Would like meeting up sometime.

Come on up to Gwinnett on Tuesday night. It's not terribly close, but you'll meet a few guys local to you.

Meet up near Buford, GA

I am in Suwanee - let's set up a north GA mountain run soon. I am a fan of Mazcare/Charlie as indicated, they are expensive but worth it. I think it is time to change front brakes/fluid before any other track events. 19 y/o pads held up well but the susp is RB/Tokico so the brakes are the weak link. Single piston (eh).
GTUAGAIN (35,000 miles) hit that # on Road Atlanta and did not notice it until the drive home.\ 89 GTU Black/Black and Red (GA clay)

I have 44 min of video at the track (need help?? I have it on a CD)- I would like to post same and there will be video of Big Island Sevens passing me and the Corvette and the Lotus. OK I have 160hp and 205/60/15 tires so I can not expect to hold off that muscle and the Lotus is a track star to start with!
