12a Engine and 5 speed Transmission from '79 RX7

I found a guy who is going to sell me a 12a engine and transmission from a 79 rx7 for $175 delivered.

I was told that it is running, but needs a starter. I know, we've all heard that.

Let's say it doesn't run, would $175 for a long block 12a with a transmission be a good deal?

If the transmission is good id say its a dec deal becuase they are getting harder to find. With that being said alot of members on this forum have picked up an entire car for 300, and not had to put much time into it. If you could get it closer to 100 id say for sure go for it...

I guess we know how wacky feels. or maybe we don't. Wacky, do you think they were junk when the cars were new (circa 79), or the condition they are in now?
