lowering my fd...

i was looking into lowering springs and these were the only ones i found...there "TEIN S.TECH LOWERING SPRINGS". i wanted coilovers, but i cant see myself spending $1000+ on them. i wanted to get it to drop at least 1in. i know there supose to adjust and gradually drop to a certain point, but i dont know to wat extent this is? anyone have any experience with these, or any other lowering springs for that matter?

here is the link to the springs on ebay:

The Tein S-Tech drop the car pretty low. Also, they have a fairly high spring rate at which I don't recommend using them with stock shocks.

Here's an old shot of my car with the Tein S-Tech installed:

I definitely had to roll the fenders. I'm running Tokico shocks with them.

why would you recommend not using them with the stock shocks? my friends has these same springs on his 350z and he has never had any problems with his suspension...

A proper suspension will have the shocks valved for the spring rate being used. The Tein S-Tech are almost double what the stock spring rates are. I seriously doubt Mazda had the stock shocks valved for anything over the stock spring rates. That said, using springs much harder than what the shocks are valved for will wear the shocks out much quicker as well as not provide precise handling.

People do it all the time, doesn't mean its a good thing to do. You can drive a car with your feet, but just because you can do it doesn't mean its a good idea.

he's right. going with springs with a higher rate will drastically shorten the life of the stock struts.

If you want to keep the stock shocks, I would recommend either Eibach or the RSR Down springs. Both have a mild increase in spring rate which will work well on the stock shocks.

Yes, they will replace everything. If you are just wanting coilovers for the street, they will be fine. However, if you ever plan to take your car to a road course, I would suggest you go a different route for coilovers.

I didn't see the TEIN SS mentioned. You can get them for around $950 shipped from an authorized dealer. I had them on my MKIV Supra and they are pretty good coilovers for the street. The actually rode quite nicely. They have adjustable dampening settings.

I'm going to get these for my FD as soon as the next paycheck rolls around. Got some SSR SP1's waiting impatiently in the garage
