New Mazda Clutch Slipping

Guys...
I have an '87 TII. I installed the following parts (all brand new OEM from Mazdacomp):
Flywheel
Pressure Plate
Clutch Disc
Master Cylinder
Slave Cylinder
Pilot Bearing
Throw Out Bearing
Hydraulic Lines
Engine and Transmission Mount

Everything was SPOTLESS when I reassembled it...I cleaned the flywheel with brake cleaner several time to make sure there was not so much as a fingerprint on it. After only about 3000 miles it's started to slip again in 3rd and 4th if you are in the throttle. The car is all stock excepth the exhaust system. Actually it's suffering from low boost at the time so i'm pretty sure i'm not over poweing it. Anybody have any idea how / why it could be slipping??? Anything I can check? I'd tear it down again but I did that once (when I installed it) and didn't find anything wrong so I don't know what i'd find now. I spent over $700.00 dollars to replace a slipping clutch with a slipping clutch....i'm sure you can all appreciate how frustrated I am. This clutch was supposed to last the lifetime of the car (i'm very gently with it most of the time).

Thanks for any help.

Todd

i would say two things are occuring. one you got a bad pp or disc. two you have too much power for a stock pp and disc. just get an act race clutch you will never wear it out. i think your left leg will wear out first

Funny you should say that.I installed new Mazda clutches on both my TIIs last spring. One was just fine, the other felt real soft and began slipping after only a few 100 miles.I took it back to the dealer and they replaced it with a new one which has now got about 10k miles on it and is working fine.I thought the pressure plate was soft, but also the disc was slightly warped. They gave all 3 pieces.

Hmmmm.....i'll check that with MComp and see if I can get them to replace it (i'm not sure that they warranty their parts though).

Did you take it easy on the first 1000 miles?

I took it easy...no drag race starts etc. The clutch does not engage (even when first installed) until ALL the way off the pedal so I don't know what the problem could be.

HOLY FAWK! My clutch grabs and is engaged about 2 cm from the floor. Personally, i'd think that the clutch was never FULLY engaging, and you just wore it out.

I don't think that's the case. I have never smelt anything and never noticed it slipping until recently (and then only in 3rd and 4th). I'm at a loss here.

One possibility,I just noticed you changed the clutch M/C,is it possible the clearance on the push rod is not set properly?

Was the flywheel just installed or was it scuffed a bit?
What kinda break-in procedure did you do with the new clutch?
Any signs of fluid leakage coming from the bell housing area?

Ted,

It was brand new so I did not "scuff" it. I don't see any fluid leaks but i'm going to remove the inspection plate Saturday (after F1 qualifying) and check it out. As for break in....I just took it easy for about 1000 miles...no drag starts...no high RPM....no speed shifting. I'm pretty gentle on the drive train usually. I did adjust the pedal height but I think the rod had a little slack in it already so I don't THINK that was a problem.
