Well not the gauges themselves but how they would be mounted?
The two in the pics bolted tot he grill should pass easy, right?
But what if I had another two on each side and double side taped them down? I really hate to drill in to the dash.

I was going to use these on my truck since my Glow Gauges arrived after I thought the order was canceled. These have pods but the others don't. I was going to use the flyrx7 quadpod and either panel mount above radio or RHD A-piller. Yes RHD, so it doesn't interfere with the track view. I didn't even like the single pod on the LHD A-pillar on the track.

So is velcro or double stick scotch or foam tape ok for track use?
Has anyone drilled in to the dash to mount gauges?
Should I swap to the fly pod when/if available?

 

I've never had either body check gauges in an inspection, but do you think the gauges will stay in place with double-stick tape?

 

I don't think I've ever heard of a tech inspector having a personal crusade about how guages are mounted. I've used hose clamps in various combinations and even velcro. Velcro gets tighter with vibration so if the sticky part holding it down holds you should be OK.

 

We had a driver that wasn't allowed through tech two weeks ago because he didn't have an SCCA patch on his suit. Then I was not DQ'd even though I was 10lbs under weight. So anything is possible with SCCA tech. It's rediculously random.

The other side of the story...if you're asking if it'll pass tech you already know it's sketchy. Do it the right way the first time. Not only for saftey sake but just for the simple fact you don't want something flopping around during your first session and playing havoc with your whole weekend.

Why not fashion a piece of aluminum that bolts into the dash through the speaker grille area that can hold all four gauges? Simple and effective.

 

Exactly, should not be hard to fab up a sheet aluminum plate that all 4 gauges could mount to and then bolt to the dash.

Understand your desire not to drill into the dash, but if that gauge comes loose mid corner it could hit you.

 

I think the gauges would stay with double stick tape but that doesn't mean it's legal. My commander is velcro'd on but they've never mentioned anything about it before. Doesn't mean they won't make me remove it int he future. May battery is wedged in the rear bin and won't come out in a rollover but it's not legal.

The metal thing attached to the center speaker grill sounds like a good idea. I'll work on that for now. thank you
