Exclamation Gotham Racing GR67 dyno video and graph

I finally got around to hosing my dyno video and thought I'd share it with everyone. The car pulls like a mother when I actually get on it, the wastegates annoy the hell out of me. I wish I would have gotten the single plumbed wastegate, but instead I went with the dual 38mm wastegates. The wastegates sure do a good job regulating the boost though Also I went with the 3 inch downpipe instead of the 3.5 . Anyway the car put down 409 at 15 psi and 421 and 15.5 psi on a dynapack in 3rd gear. I didn't take it past that yet, but I'm sure it has a lot more to give. Just wanted to say that this turbo kit is VERY well put together, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to do a single turbo upgrade. For my black Rx-7 I'm thinking of going with the GR63 since I'm not looking to make more then 350 with that car.

Of course the car was tune by Mr. Steve Kan and it runs smooth as ever, except my clunky *** cusco LSD. I'll just go ahead and list the engine mods to make things easier.

- Gotham Racing large street ported motor with Rotary Aviation seals
- Rotary Extreme regular V-mount
- Gotham Racing GR67 can't remember the A/R think it was .97
- supra pump
- 1600 secondary injectors
- 850 primary injectors
- Marren PFD
- HKS Twin power
- Apex power FC
- Rx-7 store resonated midpipe
- RE- Amemiya dolphin tail exhaust (JIC bullit in video)
- Aeromotive fuel filter
- SX fuel pressure reg
- BR10eix spark plugs all around

anyway here is what everyone is probably skipping to anyway

and the graph

For comparison's sake, what would your hp/tq numbers be if you dyno'd in 4th gear?

Is the Rotary Extreme regular sized Vmount intercooler big enough for that turbo's power levels?

Nice numbers.

Aren't you a bit lean at your torque peak ~4000 RPM?

Jio,
Do I have that on my camera?! I'll check and get that to you if I do!

Ernie,
Thanks! This video was taken months ago, but a few knuckles have been cracked in the process. It's been runing great.

Steve said the lean spot is fine, and I haven't had the engine kill itself yet so I'll take his word for it. I'm not really sure what the torque difference would be if it were a 4th gear pull.

Gracer,
I was wondering the same thing, which is why I will be upgrading to a larger core in the semi near future. We'll see what happens at that time

Edit: Actually now that I look at the graph the boost trickles back down to 15 psi where I was making 420 hp....so I guess it was 420 at 15 psi haha.

awwww thanks buddy, right back at cha! Lookin forward to the cruise down to DGGR. I think gotbanned was saying that because the dyno was pre-loading the car making it sound like an auto shifting gears, correct?

I love the dolphin tail, it has made the car so much quieter compared to the canister. At DMV the car registered 91 dbs at 2500 rpms compard to like 96 or more with the JIC. I can't remember what the JIC registered, I have it somewhere.

LEN!! Whats goin on man, long time no talk, hows the car holding up?

Jio,
I'm charging my camera to see what I've got. If it's on there I'll get it to ya

That's not bad, Scrub.

I recommending stepping the hotside (turbine housing) down one trim size, if it's available.

Why did you dyno in 3rd gear. It isn't a 1:1 ratio?

I'm not sure if thats what size the hotside is, like I said I can't remember. But I'm happy with the power/response level. Why would you recommend a smaller size?

Also I did not decide what gear to do the pulls in. I would have elected for fourth, but they do pulls in 3rd usually for some reason. I don't think it would have made much of a difference anyway.

By no means am I knocking your car what so ever! You have an awesome set-up and even more beautiful car. However, It doesn't look like your dynograph crosses at 5252. What is up with that?

Ty, in order for torque and hp to cross (be equal) at 5252 rpms, both parameters must be using the same scale on the vertical y-axis. As you can see above, that isn't the case here---torque on the left scale topped out at 327.8 and hp on the right scale topped out at 421.5.

Re: the lower a/r, bdc is probably referring to the lack of low end/response the graph shows. One thing I found with comparing my dynapack graph to driving on the street----the boost response exhibited on the street didn't correlate with the dynapack results. I remember looking at my dynapack graph and thinking that it looked like I didn't get full boost until around 5000 rpms. That wasn't the case on the street, the night of the dyno event after my pulls I was ripping around the area near the shop and seeing full boost around 4000 rpms in that cold weather, this with BNR3s non-seq.

Like Rich said, the response on a dynapack is very different from what you'll actually see on the street.
