Differential Shops in San Diego / Socal
Differential Shops in San Diego / Socal
Hey guys, I've got a S4 NA Clutch LSD which gave me some trouble while I had it installed in my car for a few days. Kind of a howling noise. I'm pretty sure it's the backlash. (Noise coming from center of pumpkin.) Thread here.
Question: Where could I take it to have the backlash adjusted properly? Priority on "getting it done right, the first time" and secondary objective of "not being screwed in the *** on price".
I figure there's nothing specific about the RX7 diff versus any other, so any old shop that does work on diffs would be ok, I'm just looking for someone who would be reliable.
Please post up if you know of a shop that fits the bill and what kind of price I might be looking at.
I'd do it myself, but I don't have the right kind of feeler gauges, and as I understand it, it's one of those things that requires an experienced touch.
Thanks!
T

They have worked on my 4.88 and 4.44 gears in my FB and RX-3's. They also do tranny rebuilt. This shop has been around for ages. Prices are reasonable too.

Thanks for the info. (I forgot about this thread.)
I'm talked to a couple of guys, including San Diego Gear & Axle in El Cajon, who told me it's probably the bearings, and not the backlash. The guy at SDGA gave me a ballpark figure of 250 for labor + cost of bearings.
I think in that case I'll just try it myself if I get bored some time.
