Bought Burt's TII

So I bought Burt's TurboII, I seem to be having a cooling problem. So I'll be searching
the forums for an answer the next few days. The car just doesn't seem to want to hold it's coolant. Also I pulled of the freeway and the turbo was really glowing, I was staying out of boost

what is the exact issue it is having? burping coolant into the overflow or disappearing mysteriously? i would probably suggest having the cooling system pressure tested to see if there is any leaks and if the pressure caps are good still.

The car is boiling the coolant into the overflow tank.

pbchief2, you said that the turbo was glowing? Couldn't that be sign of a clogged up cat/precat?? That could also help to explain the cooling system problems. Just a thought though.

Congrats on picking up that TII. I know it well. And it was one hell of a motor in it. I remember when that was ported and built.

definitely burping it into the overflow. I'm gonna take more time bleeding it. The coolant seems clean, no fuel smell in it. My other turbo cars(wrx, Supra, 200sx) never had that type of turbo glow unless I was driving pretty hard. I'll pressure test the cooling system today also.

i can't remember if Bert pulled the cats or not, if they're on it now they could have gone into thermonuclear meltdown and started this issue.

changed the cap and thermostat, doesn't have 720 injectors. I'm just glad someone on the forum has my car right now.

I'd be amazed if the compression was anything less than 90psi on all faces. I would think that it would be higher than that, but that would be a safe extreme low point. The motor doesn't have that many miles on it.

91 on the rear rotor, 86 on the front rotor. My help just informed me he didn't depress the throttle so out I go again.

Here's some pics of my L plugs.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked when I saw those pictures. I guess Bert didn't believe in changing spark plugs?

All plugs changed, found a 2 bad clamp and fixed then, another tps, coolant flushed, adjusted Idle. I just have a wicked hiccup at 3400 rpm, like hitting a wall,......... then it goes.

Hmmm, sounds like the dreaded FC grounding issue. Some good grounding wires run off of the engine will solve that problem. Now worries there.

i cleaned the grounds fairly well whenever i do any engine so i don't think that is it. it could be the injectors and/or fuel filter. not sure when the filter has been changed last and the injectors probably could stand to be serviced. there is an injector cleaning shop off Auburn Blvd near manzanita, right around the strip club area.
