Talking Potential Tial BOV buyers

To all rotor heads. If your planning on buying a Tial BOV for your RX7 it is very important that you know what to ask for. The BOV comes with two different spring rates. The softer of the two should be used on the rotory. Because The stiffer spring is made for engines producing 20 Vacume or more to open faster and so not to have compressor surge. The softer spring works better with for example THE ROTARY because it sees 15-17 vacume at idle so in that case a softer spring will allow it to open sooner, not affecting the performance of the BOV. I found this out because I was getting compressor surge just by letting off the throttle a little bit. Also the BOV was opening late(on a 2 sec delay) I hope this educates drivers out there. I hate to see people waste there money or be taken advantage of.

REV HARD!!!!!

Can anyone explain what a compressor surge sounds like? "Coolrotaries" had just about the same problem as I do. There is a weird sound (like...voop...voop.voop) and the BOV opens up. The thing is, the Blitz BOV was working fine with the stock set up. After installing the front mount IC, I hear this weird noise when I lift off the throttle ( part and full) then a late blow off from the BOV. When I had the stocj set up, the BOV was quick when I lift off. I get mixed responses when I talked to the speed shops here. Some say that I should feel it when I lift off like a fuel cut. Anyone has experiences?

My RX6 turbo sounded like the freakin' three stooges when I was running it without a BOV -- let off the gas and wub-ub-ub-ub-ub.

I put a TiAL on there but I don't know which spring I got. It seems to work fine (no more stooges) so I am happy. It is pretty quiet as BOVs go, but you can definitely hear it. It doesn't make weird bird noises or anything - just a slight pop and then air rushing.

compressor surge is sometimes a "bub-ub-ub-ub" sound or a "cho-cho-cho" sound. here is an example of how the "cho-cho-cho" compressor surge sounds like (but damn...it does sound cool. . but not good for the turbo(s) whatsoever):

cho cho cho....whubba whubba AHAHA it's always fun to see how people interpret sounds.

My take is that it's more of a ch ch ch ch ch sound....but then again it depends what turbo and the filter element etc....but bad no likey surgey
