going ls2 who wants parts?
hey figured id post this in the nw forrum first since all you guys and drive and get anything you need and dont have to fuss with shipping, i am going ls2 untill i can afford to get a shell and do a 3 rotor project that i dont have to drive everyday, but because i drive this everyday and still need power and reliability im going ls2 with the 8.8 ford rearend, in the next 2 months, the engine, tranny, harness, radiator, intercooler, turbos, are all goin, plus whatever else i pull off in the process, i am doing a compresion test on the motor this weekend, just kinda posting this up here to see whos interested, turbos need rebuilt, and the compression test will tell me weather its apex seals or throttle possition sensor that are causing my crapy idle, its out of a 93, but could be made to fit in anything, 5th gear needs rebuild on the tranny, other then that no troubles, and 5th gear only gives me trouble at over 110 mph

pm's sent, and to everyone showing interest your patience would be apreciated on this one, like ive stated to a couple of you in the pm i do drive it every day therefor a teardown before i get my motor built wont work for me, but in the next month or so it should be done and then i can take the motor and everything out, sell it and everything else not needed, and then get the stuff from hinson to bolt in my ls2, lol if anyone has somthin theyd let me drive id be more then willing to tear it apart sooner, but i live in oregon therefor if it rains im stuck with the motorcycle wich isnt fun, i just sold one project and still find myself swamped with crap to do, ontop of work 5 or 6 days a week, so again thanks for the pateince, oh and as far as prices go, if i get a reasonable offer on somthin i wont pass it up when the time comes to sell the stuff, im not hard set on makeing a ton of money off this stuff, just a little bit to help ofset the price of the swap, thanks again

Why go ls2? Cant you get an LS1 or LS6 for much cheaper? Theres tons more parts for the 1's and 6's and cheaper as well. You can make lots of power with those too...
Just wondering...

acually i can get a ls2 block for cheaper then an ls1 block wich is the same as an ls6, and the ls2 can handle a bigger stroke crank without machining the block any, and the ls2 uses all the same internals other then having a 4 inch bore, crank, rods, heads, only difference is the ls2 has the cam sensor moved from the lifter vally to the timing chain cover, so it has to have an ls2 cam gear, and the nock sensors cant be controlled with an ls6 computer but i dont plan on using nock sensors so it wont make any difference, the motor im building wont be cheap either way, and i wont have to machine anything if i go ls2 so thats why
Gottcha. If you were wanting a bigger bore, than the ls2 is definetly the way to go. But Im finding it hard to believe you can get one cheaper than an LS1 considering that there are so damn many firebirds and camaros with them, along with the vettes...

true i can get a complete engine for cheaper yes, but a used zo6 ls6 goes for like 4000-4500, and a new ls2 goes for 5500, ls1 blocks seem to be hard to come buy, threw gm, the ls2 is cheaper, yea i could get one online, but its gona be used, and id rather just start fresh and not have to machine somthing im not sure the integredy of, if i could get a new ls1 id prolly do it but i think the cheapest ls1 block i found new was the same price as the ls2 i just orderd and it has way more potential then any ls1, ill post pics of the engine build as it comes along tho so you guys can see whats all goin into it
