I have 2 old junkers that need to be towed away...
What's the best way to do this?
my dad wanted to see if we could donate them and get a tax writeoff or something, but i have no idea where to go as far as getting them towed away, how much it would cost if it does cost anything, and if there's a possibility for a tax writeoff...
the cars are:
1987 Range Rover that doesn't run
1990 S5 non-turbo, no engine, no tranny, interior partly dismantled (it was the car that was wrecked on the way to buttonwillow a couple years back)

Rules have changed on donation stuff. No more tax shelter unless the car is sold and a bill of sale is provided to you by that non-profit agency. If you have a pink slip, theres a place where you can stash the shell. Im not a fan of rover so cant help you there.
Just donated one of my cars to www.fatherjoesvillages.org , they set up the tow to fit my schedule and had all the paper work ready when they came to pick up my car.
You can either choose to wait until they auction off your car and what ever that value is would be your deduction amount.
Or you can take a flat $500 amount for deduction purposes.
You have to make sure of who you are donating to. Any place that just tells you to leave the key and title in the vehicle without being there are shady.

most donation places will still take them, I am pretty sure the place i sent my car would take non running cars. They end up just auctioning them off in the end to wreckers, used car dealers....wrecking yards dont tend to though
Most junkyards (ie, pick up parts) wont take a rolling shell. There's a place in Sun Valley where you dump it and they will pay you $30. I have another solution to your problem but I would rather not post it.
