Hey Guys,

As some of you may know, my car has recently expired due to the cancer known as rust. (https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/rustastic-how-bad-my-car-dead-514125/) As a result of this, I'm searching for a rust free chassis to transfer all my working bits to. This search will probably lead me south of the border to find a rust free car.
So, I'm looking for a place to rent a car trailer of some description. I know I can rent car dolly's from uhaul, however in some states the vehicle being towed on a dolly needs to be licenced... So if anyone knows where I can find a car trailer for rent for a weekend, or if anyone has a car trailer that they'd rent to me for a weekend, I'd love to hear it!

uhaul have trailers as well

 

They do, and their quite nice as well. I've used a U-Haul car trailer before and they are great.

yea but if you want a trailer from uhaul dont tell them you have a ford explorer because as i have found out they do not rent to those of us who own them!!!

 

Why don't they rent to people with ford explorer's?

like I said, their trailers are top notch. I towed an RX-7 from woodstock to chatham (about 1.5 hours at 120) with a 91 Lumina APV that had a 3.1L V6 in it. It was slow to get up to speed, but once there, it was easy to hold and the trailer didn't sway at all. Very stable and the trailer also has its own brakes which helped out greatly in stopping. Took 2 hours to get home, but I was really taking it easy on the van. The trailer is made of aluminum it seems, so its surprisingly light and well balanced. I could lift the tounge (spelling?) myself.

 

uhaul has nice trailers.

I brought a 2002 bmw 328i back from arkansas with one of their pickups + one of their trailers, it was great and good at high speed too.

 

That happened to me!!! i borrowed my friends and when i got there they told me they wouldnt rent one to me. they said the've had too many lawsuits with people getting into roll-overs. so i had to rent a truck too! made it a much more expensive excercise, still reasonable though.

 

I should add that the place i went to in brampton was super helpful, and even gave a discount, saved me 50 bucks! They were these wicked nice rastafarian people.

 

....anybody know what the licensing rules are for cars towed on car dollys? ...'cause it turns out my tow vehicle only has a Class II hitch, which won't cut it for a trailer, but will work for the tow dolly.
Only problem is, I heard somewhere that the vehicle being towed by a tow dolly needs to be licenced?
