I'm about to buy one as i thought i would match the wastegate i got.Any feed back on the tial 50mm waste gate?

i love Tial if i did not have Greddy Bovs on my cars i would have Tial

The Tial is a GREAT BOV!! Just make sure that you get the "rotary friendly" spring from Tial. The standard spring is too hard for the boost levels that we run and you'll experience compressor surge if you aren't at WOT. One of the best built BOV's I've ever seen too. I love mine and would never switch to anything else.

how do you know its rotary friendly? i have both the blow off valve and wastegatee sitting in their boxes...what is our spring rate?

the rotary freindly is a 7,8 psi spring , while the normal one is 11 and theres also a 14 I believe.

 

interesting never new about that. But why a 7-8psi spring if we plan on running 14psi daily and more than that when we race?

 

I bought my husband one and obviously he loves it

 

i had one on my 2-rotor single setup, and bought another one for my new setup. sound the best in my opinion too. i hate the whistle sound.
if you contact Tial, they will swap you springs straight across, you just have to pay for shipping.

mine is great the only thing that i had to get a spring that opens in the right time but had to shim it to get it to close on idle, the springs that the shop offered where either too hard or soft so i went with the soft one and shimmed it a little.
great piece though

The spring rating is not actually for the pressure, but for the vacuum at which it opens, so it has nothing to do with the amount of boost your running.

They sound great IMHO.

1sgen, I noticed that mine is also open at idle, but I didn't really think anything of it. I don't think it hurts to have the engine breathe a little through the BOV at idle, does it?

 

When compared to something like the HKS ssqv they're both completely different. The Tial for example depends on the spring pressure to keep it the valve sealed under boost. I was told this is common for this particular bov to lose a small amount of boost due to this set-up.
The HKS uses the boost to help keep it's valve closed.
I like the looks and the sound of the tial better and would use it over the HKS unless I was running high boost or racing.

All BOVs (that I know of) use the boost pressure to stay shut under boost, since the pressure in the hose serves to cancel out the pressure in the IC pipe. Still, they can open under boost when the pressure drop between where the BOV is installed and where the hose connects to the manifold is large and overcomes the BOV spring. They are designed to open when the throttle closes, giving vacuum to the hose (since closing the throttle makes a vacuum in the manifold, even under boost) and pressure from the IC pipe side. They can open at idle, too, when the vacuum between the engine and the throttle overcomes the BOV spring. At idle, there isn't much happening (pressure or vacuum) on the IC pipe side. I am sure there are some minor design variations, but that's how BOVs work.

heyI am having idle issues with the new motor.I was wondering how much of the soft spring contributes to the surging. i have removed the ISC (Chuck fixed thePFC),checked for vac leaks, adjust air bleed in conjustion with idle screw and nothing helps it except for when it gets atround 1800, 2000.
Would this BOV close under 1000 rpm and then allow smoother idle?Just wondering since apparently others have a floating Tial BOV at idle.
