Exclamation Hayes Shut Down???!!!

Well, not sure of the general consensus on Hayes Rotary in Redmond WA, but I just found out that they went BANKRUPT!!! Ya the guy who bought my car pre paid for a seven hundred dollar exhaust system to be installed, and he went there one day and they were all shut down! Now he may have to go through some legal action to get his money back. Kinda crazy, I guess more people need to get rx7's to support buisnesses like these. They were good people, at least in my opinion. Just a heads up.

they didn't go bankrupt they were shut down by the IRS for shotty bookeeping. they went south real quick since the early 90's when they were known as a good shop.

theres a local shop here in town that was installing a rebuilt into a s5 a few months ago. They heard i knew a little bit about rotaries and called me to ask how to get the rebuilt started and running. Well my advice got it running but the damn engine never built any compression. Anyways to the point....

I ask where they got the engine, he says he can't recall, just some place in the seattle area. I say I hope it isn't Hayes....then silence on the phone. Anyways, they sent him a junk engine and never returned any calls, now I know why.

The IRS shuts down business for not paying payroll taxes or not paying income taxes. If the IRS shut down every business that did a poor job of bookkeeping only the fortune 500 would still be around.

Hayes employees on many occasions had late paychecks, bounced paychecks, and I know they've been sued o' plenty.

(add long story here) Hayes owed me 2100$ and the engine they pulled out of my FC. They where making payments on my refund, still owed me 700$, and still had my engine. Imagine my suprise when i went down to see don about my refund, to have a guy roll down the window of his delivery truck and tell me that the sate had shut them down.

knowing that Don Hayes won't be raping the rotary community almost makes up for losing $700 and a perfectly good early FC engine.

yeah, there should be one hell of a reposetion auction coming up :crosses fingers: their parking lot, garage, and a side parking lot where full of sevens.

ooooooooooooooo repo auction huh??? that could be good for us 7 owners for the cars that Hayes bought and arent thier customers cars that the stte seized like your engine
if they have one we should all get to gether and make sure anyone that a had car or engine seized get sit back before we go hog wild on the other 7 and such
dont know if that would be possible but it would be cool
keep us updated on that

yeah, I drove by there a couple weeks ago (to make sure the monster was really dead). a sign saying, this buisness has been seized by agent Ed Wood" or something like that, and it had Ed Wood's phone #.

I was glad to see, the suite that had been packed to the celing with dingy rotor housings and other worthless rorary parapheneila, empty. all i could see through the windows was some furnature, and that ancient wankel whith the humongous carb that they had for display in the waiting area.

the parking lot was still loaded with 7's.

sorry to bring an old thread up, my brother had a car at hayes; that we have since picked up. they owe him parts: longblock, radiator, oil cooler, and money: $2000. all they did was take the motor out and leave the back of the car full of parts... manifolds, accessories, etc...

i was there just 2 days ago, i guess they are starting to clean the joint out. there's a dumpster outside full of old rotors, motor bolts, etc. bankruptcy lawyers said that declared value of stuff inside is zero when i called a while back...

we'll get around to putting a motor in his car someday, for now its sitting & taking up space... this really sucks, wish we'd done some research before he took it there back in june.

i'd like to talk with someone who's hired a lawyer to chase hayes down... my brother needs his $$ & parts.

Shhhh! I like to dumpster dive.

I swung through the other day to still see many cars out front and out back (3rd and 2nd gens, too many 1st gens) while Don was inside shuffling papers.
