What is needed to swap s4 n/a tranny to tII

I checked the Archive could not find anything and I keep hearing different stories
if anyone has changed a s4 over to a t2tranny let me know what all is needed or is it just as simple as changing tranny and driveshaft.

Racing beat now makes a clutch kit so you can keep the stock n/a flywheel, pressure plate, and starter. You can also use the driveshaft from an automatic, it is just long enough to bolt the tII tranny to the n/a rear.

So really all you need (for a minimum swap)
TII tranny
TII mounts
TII slave cylinder
Automatic driveshaft or Mazdatrix driveshaft
RB n/a motor to turbo tranny clutch kit.

? a non turbo starter on a turboII transmission? That raises eyebrows.

Don't know why it would - the starter doesn't care about the transmission, it bolts to the back of the engine and contacts the flywheel, hence if the flywheel is NA the starter needs to be NA, and if the flywheel is turbo, the starter would need to be, as well. You're going to be either starting it in neutral or with the clutch engaged anyway, so I can't see where it matters overly much.

^^call RB and ask them...that is what I did a few days ago when I had the same question. They designed the clutch kit just for this situation, someone wanting to swap in the turbo tranny with the least amount of headaches/parts differences.

Here is a direct link to the RB disk. The only "drawback" is that they only make 6 and 4 puck versions, that is ok for me but not for all.

Thanks guys,---I have gone through 4 stock trannys and I am sick of them .
The front bearing goes out in them so easy and then bang--its toast.

I might be wrong, but I remember offering up a non turbo starter to a turbo transmission, and it flat does not work. The flanges on the non turbo starter were quite different than the hole pattern in the turbo transmission (where the starter bolts to). Like I say, could be wrong, it's been a couple of years ago.

Just talking about the starter issue, not the clutch part or the turbo transmission on a non turbo. Just the starter issue.

ah, when I did mine it looked a lot like my starter bolted to the back of the engine block and the transmission bolt through the bellhousing was nested inside that - I could be mistaken though, it's been a few weeks since I've done it.
