Change in oil injector design?
So the inevitable happens, I crack one of my old plastic OMP lines while working on the primary injector rail. No big deal, order up SS lines, new washers, and new oil injectors to be safe. The first clue that something was different was at the dealer where I discovered that the old PN had changed. So I pick them up a couple of days later and compare them to my old ones, the first thing I notice is how much harder it is to push air through the new ones by blowing on them..per the test procedure in the manual. The second and more glaring difference is the actual size of the hole where oil is injected from, the news ones are noticeable smaller, probably accounting for the flow difference (aside from just age). So does anyone know when and why these changed? I am hesitant to put these on my car in the event that they will not lubricate the seals properly.

You can take a look at mine (engine still on crate). The manual says they are different for each rotor or at least the color (silver & gold). My last engine had two silvers and this one has two gold. I would have to search my receipts for the part #'s. I went to SS lines as well, even though my old the plastic ones only have 25k mi on them.

The 94 & 95's have a different design than the 93's. Mine (94) kept failing and Bryan at Rotorsports Racing replaced them with 93's that have been trouble free for about 25k miles. He told me he sees a higher failure rate on the 94 & 95's.

Thanks Rob.. its very odd, I think they are gold when they are newer though and turn silverish over time from the heat. My new ones are gold, the old ones are silver.. from what I can tell they are identical. My 93 manual makes no mention of different injectors for each rotor, all it shows is the test procedure with great illustration I might add.

This is what I had a suspicion of, good thing I put the old ones back on last weekend on a hunch. This is the first I have heard of it though..

That's what is on my receipt. I can't remember if they are for the '93 or 2nd gen'. I remember the sales guy asking the mechanic if they would work on my '94 and he said yes. There's a parts fische on mazdaformance.
