RB springs/Koni struts installed; impressions

Well thanks to a buddy who generously lent me some time on a hoist and his assistance, I've installed my new RB springs and Koni struts. As for the new springs, they are really nice! The RB springs provide a 25% increase in spring rate to all four corners. They much improved the flatness of the car during cornering and provided an inch drop, giving my car a nice new stance. The Koni struts went in without much incident and they are STIFF! Very nice stiffness for the front end of the car. In fact the car rides better with the new Koni's than with the old struts, which as it turns out were leaking. I totally recommend these babies to anyone looking for a beter-than-OE replacement strut, they're cheap from http://www.classicgarage.com/classicgarage/rx72.html and are adjustable when removed from the strut housing.

Also adding to my fun factor, we adjusted the factory mounting block to provide the maximum negative camber, probably between .5 and 1 degree. The car is now more biased to oversteer, whereas before it was slightly on the understeer side of the equation because I had removed the rear sway bar. We also set the caster to max positive, making the steering MUCH more stable in a straight line. I can't emphasize how much this helped my on-center precision! The new settings make the car more willing to rotate and really help straight line stability at speed. Wandering on the highway was markedly reduced.

Next on the list:

Some long overdue bodywork and paintjob
Rear suspension mod as per RX7Carl's instructions from www.pbandjracing.com.

This is going to be a great summer. I'm really looking forward to testing this new setup on the autoX course!

the $29 each ones? The $99 ones would be a steal with external adjustments.

BTW, I vouche for this company too. I bought my tokico blues from them. Looks like they don't stock the blues anymore for the rear.

I've got the regular old OE replacement 22 dollar struts. They're still way stiffer than the worn out old struts I had in there and the price was right. If I'm still autocrossing next year I'll probably spring for adjustables on all four corners, but not until I get some R tires to play with.

I'm still mucking about on street rubber for autoX.
