Can someone confirm whether the thread size for Koni yellows on the top mounting shaft (where adjustment is) is 12 mm x 1.50 fine thread metric? All I can find at local hardware stores is 12 x 1.75 and this size nut does not fit- threads are too coarse. TIA

Ron, doesn't the factory nut go back on to the top?

Raj- unfortunately the diameter of the threaded part of the strut shaft is different than the stock strut shaft. I bought a set of coil-overs on e-bay that came with only one nut on each strut. I thought I could mount them without the second nut and rubber-coated top washer, but it is not a good installation that way. You really need the rubber-coated washer (which has to have the hole drilled larger) and second nut to "sandwich" the top strut mount on the body between rubber on the bottom and rubber on the top. I checked the diameter of the Koni strut shaft and it it 12 mm, but I can not get a good reading of the number of threads per mm with my vernier caliper. I think it is 1.50 per mm, but I can only find 1.75 per mm at the local hardware and auto parts stores. That size fits the shaft, but starts to cross thread itself. I do not want to ruin the threads with the wrong size. If I order 12 x 1.50 mm nuts, I have to get a pack of 10 for about $30.00, so I would like to make sure they are the right size first.

Find a small hardware store, like True Value or Ace, those places usually have tons of nuts you can buy individually. Take the Koni in with you.

 

I can't say for certain the shock is the same but every other fine thread on the car has a 1.5 pitch.
