Dashpot removal (Yes I did a search)

I cannot, for the life of me, find any information on what the dashpot is, or how to remove it. Is it because it's so simple, once I look at it, I can tell what it is? My friend's FC is back on it's feet and needs a new throttle cable, too, so we were wondering how to take it out.

I'd leave it in.

1) It keeps the throttle from banging shut on the stops, which keeps idle readjustment from being a problem.
2) It keeps the ECU from seeing closed throttle if you rapidly pump it to make flames..
3) It's not in the way - (my opinion)

BTW that's it below the bend in my throttle cable.

From what I understand all the TB Dashpot is just a adjustable shock used to control the speed of the rev-down through the throtle by adjusting how fast the intake closes. So if I remove it all I would be doing is cutting off new air form mixing with the gas that is currently in the engine, causing a rush of gas to go through the exhaust when I suddenly let off of the throtle.

I've removed my Dashpot with subtle effects. I don't advocate It but the dashpot was the reason why I was unable to adjust my TPS correctly. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=life I remember this thread coinciding with mine on account of this. This and we started off our threads the same ie. for the life of me.

I guess I should have updated my thread.

just like geoman84 said is the formula for making good flames. all that extra gas in the exhaust is good for flamage. i say trash the dashpot, who needs it?

It's amazing hoqw you can moderate the throttle position with your right foot...
but no, its not for the everyday driver.

In summary:
If it works - adjust it to your preferance.
If it's broke - pull it.

Here is what the FSM has to say about dashpot (s4)

The FSM says that it should contact at about 3000 rpm, I think it's too much, I have it contact at 1,500 rpm, but it's a matter of taste.

If it does not allow for good TPS adjustment, then it is no good and should be replaced or ditched.
