I was just wondering if it is possible to rev a stock N/A engine to 8000rpm without any problems. I don't yet have a RX-7 (looking at a few right now) and can't quite remember the redline on the tach (might be 8000 rpm, so forgive me for the stupid question if this is the case ).

 

I believe that the redline on a stock FC N/A is 8000 rpm's. So I don't see why not.

 

s4 is 7,000
s5 is 8,000

Yes in both cases but you really wouldnt be making any power up there on an s4 unless you have some mods done. Rotarys are made to be free reving cars and love to rev.

hehe, I've got an S4.
I've hit 8k a few times last night.

It was rainging out and I decided to get some drifting practice in.

Let's say my passenger was going"DUDE STOP!!!!" as I was laughing like a mad man.

I've hit a few times before. I really try no to but we don't have the same problems like piston engines.

Pistons don't like going that high cause they will throw something out the engine most of the time.

The only reason why we don't Rev crazy high is because it is useless(HP drops after 7/8k) and I heard that we don't have enough lubrication at very high revs for prolonged time.

That's why a Rotary will always be left standing after a Rpm competition like one guy did. The loser had to be towed away while he drove home.

 

what RPM is the fuel cut at?

No idea what Fuel cut is at on a NA if any at all. I think on TII it's either 7800 or 8700 can't remember which.

 

How else do you know if the redline buzzer is working?

 

yes, that light overall body helps with the high rpms...

do the s4 really have a 'lighter body' or just a lighter dash and less sound dampening material then the s5's?

 

Theres a big reinforcement bar behind the dash on the S5's which add weight. Automatic seatbelts add a little weight. I forget what else is there.
