whaddya think? is valvoline 2 cycle racing oil ok to use as premix? I feel better about it than the marine outboard oil I've been using. The valvoline's not synthetic though.

 

Why are you pre-mixing 2 stroke racing oil into your gas? The 13B has provisions for oiling. And I've never really heard of a "seized" rotor due to inadequate lubrication.

 

People use pre-mixes when removing the oil metering pump. (something that I plan to do when I turn mine to strickly track)

You should read the label or look it up online. Can't tell you if dyno or synthetic matters but you want a very clean burning oil (low ash). I've used marvels mystery but have since been using royal purple 2-stroke.

 

I still have the omp, but I am running an apex PFC, which may or may not control the pump adequately. I also have larger than stock injectors, and I have read that it is essential to use premix under these circumstances. My engine builder also advised me to use it. It's cheap insurance. I use to use MMO, but decided to go with a more purpose made product.

 

Just out of curiosity, what ratio are you guys pre-mixing at?

 

Not sure of the ratio, but I am now using 8oz for a full tank. Was using 4 oz at each fillup. Every 4th tank or so, I skip premix. My personal voodoo.

 

BTW looked up the ash content on Valvoline website and it's listed as "nil".

I use 4-6 seconds worth. The MMO bottle had measurements on the side I noticed I poured 1oz/per sec. I think Pettit's site mentions 40z/tank but it should actually be 6oz/tank because we fill with 16gal's. I think I got that from the MMO bottle. It refers to a tank as 10gal's and 4oz/tank.

Zero ash on the Valvoline 2-stroke? I'll have to check wallmart to see if they sell it.

I think the volume you use should be dictated by how modified the car is. TC-W3 is a spec for synth oils I believe, which the valvoline is not. I don't think Wal Mart carries it. They only carry marine oils (prob same things) and MMO. I noticed when using the marine oils that my car smelled like an outboard! The valvoline is formulated to be reduced smoke. I found it at Autozone while picking up some anti-seize for the plugs.
