anyone running a 929 master cylinder with the stock brake setup? I know you want to do the 929 upgrade if you get a bigger brake upgrade, but im wondering if it is too much (bigtime overkill) for the stock brake calipers/rotors?

 

Is the proportioning the same? Or do the 3rd gens have DRP?

 

You use the same proportioning valve, but it does require different brake line fittings.

I would'nt swap to a 929 unit with the stock brakes unless, 1) you need a new master, so you might as well get the 929, or 2) you plan to get larger brakes some day and just want to get this out of the way. I really would'nt consider it over kill, but theres no need to swap if theres nothing wrong with the stock one.

 

....but, if you plan on getting a big brake kit, Pettit is the only set designed for use with the stock master cylinder, it uses the same size pistons as stock but the calipers are much larger and huge rotors....AND THEY WORK!!!!

post this in the suspension forum and it will be hopped all over. i know Sleep R1 and Max should know this. might be helping a buddy do his since no matter what we do the pedal is soft on the first press and hard on the second.

Soft -first press hard second press is just air in the system. Bleed the system well and save some money.

 

I/ve done it with stock brakes and i think the firmer pedal is an improvement. You also eliminate a sinking pedal when slowing fron 160 to 40 km/hr.

 

I have a big brake kit..and this happens to me too...

 

well we havent beld the master cylinder itself, but all four calipers have been bled thouroughly twice. i think we will spend 5 bucks on valv. synpower brake fluid and try bleeding the MC once.

I think my master cylinder is bypassing a bit, so do want to replace it...and just gathering info on the upgrade with stock brakes
