GSL-SE Exhaust?

I am close to buying another RX7, a 84 GSL-SE, the stock exhaust has a leak and I plan to add aftermarket exhaust including header. What are the better sounding products availble for the SE? (and a ballpark price)

The Racing Beat Twin Pre-Silencer exhaust system is one of the most durable, I've had mine for 4 years now and havent even had to replace a gasket. Mazdatrix lists the complete system for $724

I have the Racing Beat system on my GSL-SE. I think it sounds like crap. I bought mine for $300 unused from the wife of a guy who never used it because he died. I feel that I paid too much for it for the weak *** performance gain I got and the lousy sound it has. The problem with it is that the main pipes are 2" but the 2 pipes that enter the muffler are only 1 3/4". There is no gentle taper to this size. The gasket isn't even the same as either of those. Restrictive little pipes into the muffler which kills power. No it won't pass emissions. Get a better system or build your own. I'm going to build a new one and dump mine and it only has about 2K miles on it.

I've the Racing Beat system for non-streetoprted engines. The header (with O2 sensor bung) collects into a single pipe, then presilencer (with 5th & 6th port actuator bung), then midpipe from the existing exhaust, then powerpulse muffler (gorgeous tips!)

When I switched from stock exhaust to the RB system the sound was nice and mellow, but the car wanted to GO. Their claim of 25HP from the system seems pretty accurate.

The parts were all well-built, rugged, and bolted right on (some aftermarket exhaust companies make 'em "close enough", but these lined up beautifully) Now that it's been on for a while and the muffler isn't brand new, it's grown a bit louder, then stablised - virtually every muffler does this.

As to emmissions, though, you can't remove 3 catalytic converters, replace them with a single presilencer, and expect it to pass Smog/Aircare/Harmful Emissions testing.
