Here is a PR vid of a nitrous car. He does his burnout, then goes to launch. You see him bounce it off the limiter, then the car backfires through the carb (carb?injection? I dont know, we'll just say carb). It looks like a nitous back fire through the carb, but its not nearly as violent as nitrous backfires I've seen before. Perhaps its because the car isnt moving so the engine isnt loaded. Who knows, thats why I made this thread. If it is a nitrous backfire, does that mean the PR guys are banging the car on the limiter while on the nitrous just before they launch the car? Every PR nitrous car does this. Seems to be the popular thing to do.
If it is a nitous backfire, what is causing the backfire?

Josh.. they are bouncing the engine off the rev limiter before they launch. They are doing this with nitrous ON. While the engine bounces off the rev limiter, the micro switch is activating the nitrous.
The backfires could be a lean mixture from the rev limiting itself. scary I don't like bouncing the engine off the limiter while the nitrous is being pumped into the engine..
it just happens all it is fuel backfire the high rev take off is just because they use airshifted tranny so at high rpms the rotary grips better in high than in low and its funny because it should be the other way around...just my help
Thanks guys. I've noticed that 99% of the PR cars slam the engine against the limiter with the nitrous on before they leave. I was curious as to why they do this. It seems like it would be smarter to put the nitrous switch on the clutch. You would still be leaving under full power off the line, and it seems like it would be easier on the clutch. Who knows, they are all a lot faster than me.
