does anybody make a spring for the fd that doesn't lower the car?

i swear i'm gonna be the only guy to ever buy a set of coilovers for the sole purpose of raising the car if i don't find some...

the rsr race or ti2000 springs say they only dro like .8" front and .6" rear.

is that about as close as i'm gonna get? the car came with eibach (black) springs on it, but i really don't like how low it is...it's afraid of speed bumps

thanks

Yeah, the RSR race springs have the most conservative drop out there, but the spring rates are pretty high compared to most.

You really find problems with the Eibach springs? I have those now and I didn't think it was low enough with those :p haha

Does it have Koni yellow shocks? Those shocks have 3 positions for the spring perches. You might be able to raise it up by adjusting the position of the spring perches on the shocks.

na, it's got tokicos.

i guess the car itself isn't that low, but the body kit hangs down and the radiator sets lower than i'd like. so about stock ride height is good for me.

i guess i could sell the eibach/tokico combo and ease the financial pain of the coilovers...

The Tokicos generally make the car ride a bit lower than stock shocks or Konis from what I have seen. If you had contacted me a day ago, I would have had a perfect spring for you - the old PFS springs. They are already sold now. 3/4 of an inch drop max. IIRC, the HKS springs also have a minimal drop.

stock springs will also do the trick... DamonB uses stock springs

if i do end up with the coilovers, anyone have an opinion on the tein ss? they're like $925...cheap enough.

major concern is can i install them and have hte car at stock ride height, or is the top setting still lower than stock?

and 2.. they any good with the spring rates and overall quality?

this is basically a commuter car, but commuter for me is kind of a relative definition...it'll definately see track time.

sorry about the noob questions...i'm more of an engine/ems guy than suspension...i've got a lot to learn in this department.

Racing Beat springs have a slight drop and only like 5% stiffer, which is basicaly not butt dyno noticable. HKS SF5 would have been good but I don't think they make them for the 3rd gen (anymore?). http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda3.htm

.4"?
everywhere else says the race springs are .8"
did you get that figure from the spec sheet, or by measuring?

if they are REALLY only .4", i'll probably hit it up.

This is where you can get info on the RACE SPRING. THe Downspring will lower more than the racespring.

eh what the hell...
if they don't raise the car back up, i only lost $200 minus whatever i can sell 10 mile old springs off for.

if i don't like the coilovers on the other hand, i just lost a lot more.

This is very true. Please let me know how you want to pay. Keep in mind there's sales tax for CA res.

Thanks, Rishie

You can also just stick a rubber spacer in some aftermarket springs to get a little more height. It'll also increase the spring rate, which you may not want.

but then it might get mushy. if i did any kind of spacer, it'd be metal.

I have my Koni's on the highest profile setting, and I barely have enough clearance for my tires.

[Edit]

Well, they can travel without rubbing, that is.

I have rsr race springs with koni yellows and new upper strut mounts. Not even close to rubbing with 235/40/17f and 265/40/17r. I also run drag radials that are over 26" tall without problems.

rubbing isn't the problem.. the body kit is pretty low, and my radiator is too low, so i'm afraid of bumping that stuff.
