Front mount will give you a cooler charge but at the expense of having longer IC Piping and possibly add some Turbo Lag.

V mount will be a slightly hotter charge but less IC piping for quicker spool.

I think it really boils down to your preference of a bit of lag and more power or less lag and less power and more expense.

Vmount all the way.

Less piping, less couplers to blow/buy, looks BA, etc. Highly recommend proper ducting, and a vented hood. good efan, and maybe an oil cooler fan if you run into temp issues.

+1 on the oil cooler fan(s)! Temps atte awesome while moving, but once you stop, the lack off flow to the oil cooler starts to become an issue.

Yep.... you do NOT need a vented hood for an effective v-mount setup. The assumption that you do is fallacy.

Fans on the IC are important to prevent recirculation of hot air while the cooling fans are on (read: heatsoak). This is for the general case. Each installation will vary somewhat due to installation and intended use.

A properly installed and functioning v mount will transform the car. Not only for the improved cooling, but because things are so much easier to access than with the stock setup.

VMIC is def the better way to go imo.

I like mine, it doesn't need ducting =P

this

I am not a fan of v-mount setups because it almost always robs flow from the radiator unless the angles are exactly right. IF someone does the research to get the angles just right than it works well due to less piping/pressure drop

I've not noticed any issues with regards to water temps as a result of having a VMIC. And, like Mannykiller suggested, if there is a potential for air to slip past than you just need to make proper ducting (which you should really do anyway).

Can some more people post pictures of their V-mount setups? I'm wanting to ditch my stock tmic and I'm trying to decide which way to go and understand proper mounting.

The reason I've decided to do a slightly different design is to try to avoid heat soak. This is a quick sketch of how my set up will be done. Trying to keep the radiator as close to the steering rack as possible. Hanging a lot of weight over the front end of the car isn't the best of ideas...

Without a doubt, V-mount is superior. Many here in Phoenix have tried running front mounts and in Summertime driving conditions (above 110F) the heat soak is incredible. That plus the tendency of the front mount to restict airflow through the nose versus the v-mount design. I've taken quite a bit of data and the V-mount is the clear winner. However, a friend of mine has a similar V-mount design to mine with stock hood and his intake charge temps and operating water temps are very similar to mine with a full vented hood, so I'd have to say that based on this info the benefits of venting are mixed at best.

Here's mine!

V mount but i guess the kit is more expensive and if you do it yourself, wont be high quality.

The only time this would be true is if your idling. Heat radiated from the engine might effect the intercooler, unless proper insulating was present. If you are idling, air temp doesn't matter as much anyways. Who tries to make power at idle!
